What is Cycling Without Age?

"Freedom!", an elderly lady cries out loud, as they are sitting in a circle at a local nursing home. They’re sharing memories of cycling and what cycling means to each of them.

We have come to understand that freedom is what most people associate with cycling. From their first bike as a child, to the first solo adventures in the neighborhood and longer rides into cities and nature.
Cycling Without Age offers people who cannot ride a bike themselves an opportunity to feel the wind in their hair as they ride as a passenger on a trishaw with a certified, trained pilot.

What is a Trishaw?

Trishaws are specialized bikes built in Varsseveld, Netherlands, by Van Raam and in Copenhagen by TrioBike. There are no such bikes made in North America.

SAFETY
The bikes incorporate safety features not found on regular bikes.

ELECTRIC ASSIST
Levels the playing field by enabling more people to be able to volunteer as pilots.

We tell stories, we listen to stories of the elderly people on the bike and we also document these stories when we share them via word of mouth or on social media.

Relationships
We create a multitude of new relationships across any border in our society.

Without Age
We let people age in a positive context - fully aware of the opportunities that lie ahead when interacting with their local community

Our Goal is to raise $40,000 for the purchase of two (2) trishaws, a trailer, "along with lights, helmets, and other accessories." to bring Cycling Without Age to Fitchburg.
